Named after the mythical ruler Theras, Ancient Thera will be our first stop on this tour.

The archaeological location features remains from Roman and Hellenistic times as well as structures by the Egyptian Ptolemais.The ruins include temples, houses with mosaics, an agora, a theatre and a gymnasium. The excellent location offers you a splendid view of the sea and the neighboring villages.

Next on our exploration are the excavations at Akrotiri Archeological Site. This is one of the most important prehistoric settlements of the Aegean and, with the exception of the roofs, the majority of buildings and their contents have survived preserved by volcanic ash, enabling the visitor to marvel at this wonder of antiquity.

Open hours: November, December, January, February, March from 08:00 – 15:00.

Open hours: April, May, June, July, August, September, Oct from 08:00 am – 20:00 every day.

The next stop is the Archeological Museum of Fira. Here there is a fine collection of painted vessels, ceramics and inscriptions from the excavations in Ancient Thera as well as impressive frescoes and many remains of prehistoric times.

The Prehistoric Museum of Fira will conclude our historical journey.Housing a wealth of ancient artefacts from various excavations on the island (some even dating back to 3000 BC),the museum is thematically divided in sections according to different aspects of archaeological research and prehistorical periods.

All cruise passengers with individual programs are taken to the old Port of Fira, by tender boats. From the port, you will take the cable car up to Fira town.
The journey with a cable car takes 2-3 minutes. Approximate start of the tour should be 90 minutes after the scheduled arrival of the cruise ship.

The meeting point for the tour is at the cable car’s exit in Fira town. Your guide will wait for you there, holding a sign with your name.
